Spread across the Caribbean's most beautiful beach, at the southwestern tip of Anguilla, is the dream-like escape known as Belmond Cap Juluca. As one of Anguilla’s original luxury resorts, Belmond Cap Juluca offers its guests private villas and hotel rooms occupying its very own 200-acre barrier island. Being between Gull Pond and the tranquil, crescent-shaped Maundays Bay, guests of Belmond Cap Juluca get to enjoy a range of facilities and activities, from water sports, golf and tennis to a spa and beachfront restaurants. Many of Belmond Cap Juluca’s guests never leave the resort during their stay and with everything on offer, we doubt you would want to either.
Top Tips
• The rooms on offer at Belmond Cap Juluca range from beachfront rooms to ocean view suites, and private pool suites and villas. As a result of this, you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice. For those of you looking for a room with a view, many previous guests have recommended bookings ones on higher floors as they have better views of the surrounding waters. If you do however prefer a ground floor villa or room, previous guests have mentioned booking the ones in the middle of the property as the waters are calmer there than at the far end of the property.
• There are a myriad of complimentary on-site water activities on offer at Belmond Cap Juluca. These include windsurfing, sunset sailing, hobie cat sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling and so much more. For those of you hoping to stay landlocked, Belmond Cap Juluca also boasts tennis courts, a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre and access to a nearby golf course.
• Being one of those resorts that offers everything you’d ever want, Belmond Cap Juluca houses five food and drink venues. These include Pimms (an indoor-outdoor restaurant on the eastern end of Maundays Bay), Spice (a Moroccan-inspired lounge good for pre-dinner cocktails), Cip’s by Capriani (offering a casual Italian menu filled with your favourite comfort foods), and The Cap Shack (a food truck offering creatively mixed rum punches, catch of the day and beach BBQ tapas). For those wanting to lounge around the pool, Maundays Lounge and Pool Terrace is the perfect place to unwind, eat some tapas and soak up the Caribbean atmosphere.
• If the impossible happens and you get tired of the resort atmosphere and start looking for something a little bit more high energy, may we suggest you try bar hopping? If you have one night to go out and experience the evening beach bar scene, you have to check out Sandy Ground; the area on Anguilla with the highest concentration of restaurants and nightlife on the island. Top mentions of the area include The Pumphouse and Elvis’ Beach Bar.
• If you get tired of the resort’s beach and the other crowded beaches of Anguilla, perhaps try exploring the island’s hidden beaches. Try heading off the beaten path and settle into a lesser known beach like Savannah Bay, Sandy Hill Bay, and Dropsey Bay; they’re the little secluded gems where you’ll often times find some much needed privacy. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs, towels, and food since many of these more private beaches don’t have dining establishments on site.
