Located in the heart of one of the world’s great wine capitals Uco Valley, Cavas Wine Lodge is the first of its kind in South America. Blessed by the natural beauty of Mendoza, an idyllic wine growing region at the foot of the Andes, Cavas Wine Lodge is made up of 18 wonderfully private villas scattered among the lodge’s 55 acre vineyard. While the lodge’s surroundings may suggest that you are a million miles away from the rest of the world, it is actually the most accessible of Mendoza’s wine lodges; it is only 41 kilometres to the airport and just 31 kilometres to the city centre of Mendoza.
Top Tips
• Cavas Wine Lodge Hotel houses a total of 18 villas. All the villas are west-facing, with spectacular views of the Andes Mountain Range. Besides the amazing view, each room is equipped with a king bed, large private deck, spa style bathroom with a dual vanity, separate shower and vintage soaking tub. Adding to the luxury, all rooms also have outdoor showers, a private plunge pool and wood burning fireplaces. While all this luxury doesn’t come cheap, services and amenities included with your stay are breakfast, nightly turndown service, morning wake up service, twice daily housekeeping service, WiFi, wine tasting and all concierge services. Previous guests have mentioned that all the villas are equal in quality and it would be hard to find fault with any of them.
• If you or anyone you’re travelling with has mobility issues, you’ll be happy to hear that The whole property is accessible by ramps and villa four has been specially adapted. If you need assistance during your stay, it is definitely worth calling the lodge ahead of time so that the wonderful staff can prepare what is needed to ensure your comfort.
• To make the most of your stay in Uco Valley, it is recommended that you hire a car (or a car service) to explore Cavas Wine Lodge’s neighbouring wineries. Among them include Ruca Malen Winery, Catena Zapata Winery, Bodega Chandon, Septima Winery, Montequieto Winery, Norton Winery, Tapiz Winery, Nieto Senetier Winery, Ruggeri Winery, and Carmine Granata Saica Winery. Spend your days exploring the amazing wines of the region, buy a bottle to bring home, and enjoy a glass on your private deck overlooking the Andes Mountain Range (sounds like heaven to us!). If you’re up for it, you could even take a bicycle tour through the wineries.
• Other than wine, this region also offers a myriad of adventures and activities to take part in. These include horseback riding in the Andes, paragliding from Cerro Arco, white water rafting on the Mendoza river, taking a dip in the Cacheuta thermal baths, fly fishing on the foothills of the Andes, and so much more. It is definitely worth checking with the hotel staff to see if they can help you arrange excursions and maybe even help you get better deals on them.
