If you’re looking to relax in opulence while being surrounded by lush rainforests then Nicaragua’s first ever luxury eco-lodge, Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock, may just be your heaven on earth. Surrounded by 4,000 acres of pristine rainforest and low-impact farmland, between the Pacific and Lake Nicaragua, this eco-lodge offers its guests close encounters with Nicaragua’s native wildlife made even better by a wide offering of nature-related activities. While guests’ comfort is of high priority to Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock, it is second only to the lodge’s eco-friendly, planet-saving efforts.

Top Tips

• Although Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock does pride itself on the lush luxury it’s provides to its guests, it would be worth keeping in mind that it is still an eco-lodge. While the hotel will do their best to ensure your comfort during your stay, it is worth keeping your expectations in check when it comes to encounters with bugs, general jungle noises, and loud ocean waves. So, if you’re looking for your run-of-the-mill modern five star experience, this may not be the place for you. Pro tip: if you love nature but still want a good night’s sleep, we recommend bringing mosquito spray and a pair of ear plugs.

• While all the fifteen rooms (including five bungalows) of Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock are well appointed and designed to make you feel right at home in the jungle, many previous guests have recommended booking one of the three Ocean View rooms. Beside the obvious benefit of having amazing views of the Pacific, these rooms are the only ones that come with their very own private plunge pools. Pro tip: if you do decide to book one of the Ocean View rooms, be prepared for a bit of a climb to get to your room from the main building.

• One big reason to stay at Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock is that you get to have both a beach holiday and a rainforest getaway. While you may be surrounded by dense rainforests, thanks to the lodge’s private beach, Playa Ocotal (which is just a short hike away from the hotel), guests are free to splash in the surf, rock in a hammock or recline on pavilion-shaded lounger and order a couple of coconut cocktails from Mike’s Beach Bar. The eco-lodge also offers a range of beach activities including kayaking, surfing, sport fishing, and even horseback riding. Pro tip: if you’re lucky (and visit in the right season), you may even get to see native turtles coming to the beach to nest.

• If you are an enthusiastic Yogi then you’ll love saluting the sun from Morgan’s Rock’s Yoga Studio. The studio’s 4,300 square foot, open-air platform let’s you truly feel one with nature by embracing the forest and overlooking the ocean; it really creates a very unique yoga experience. To find your yoga flow during your stay at Hacienda & Ecolodge Morgan’s Rock, try out one of the four complimentary classes that are run every week.

• After a long day of immersing yourself in nature, why not immerse yourself in relaxation at the eco-lodge’s onsite spa, Paslamas Oasis. Inspired by local sea turtles, the spa is a simple spa-shack open to the elements with wooden walls and a sandy floor that offers aromatherapy, Thai, Swedish and hot stone massages.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
