Situated in the heart of Old Montreal and housed in a recently converted building from 1871 is the luxuriously contemporary Hotel Gault. Behind its magnificent nineteenth century facade built in Montreal greystone, this hotel boasts 30 immaculately designed lofts, suites, and apartments. Being just steps away from downtown and the convention centre, Hotel Gault is the perfect homebase for the holiday-maker and businessman alike.

Top Tips

1. While all the rooms at Hotel Gault are spacious, airy, and equally well appointed, many previous guests have recommended booking one of the Terrace rooms. As the name suggests, these rooms are equipped with your very own private terrace to laze the day away whilst the rest of Old Montreal goes by. Don’t despair if you have a smaller budget however, as even the smallest Loft rooms are decorated with luxe extravagance in mind.

2. While the building is a classic one from 1871, not all the rooms have the original brick walls. So if you are adamant on having a piece of history within your room, make sure to call well in advance of your trip to request for one of these rooms.

3. If either you or anyone you are travelling with has mobility issues, make sure to call the hotel ahead of your stay to book the room that is specially equipped with a roll-in shower and grab rail by the toilet. As there are steps up to the hotel’s front door, wheelchair users enter via a side-street lift.

4. While most of Montreal’s more contemporary art galleries are located in the downtown area of the city, the older and more historical ones are (quite aptly) scattered across the Old Montreal district. From Pointe à Callière to the Science Centre and the stunning setting of Centre d’histoire de Montréal, the choice is truly yours.

5. During your stay, you should definitely take your time tasting your way through Old Montreal. While this area was once seen as nothing more than a tourist trap, it has been reborn as a culinary hot spot in the past decade. To make the most of this gastronomic renaissance and to indulge in highlights like fancy poutine, gluten-free sweets, and craft beers, ask the hotel to help book you a spot on the Old Montreal Food Tour.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
