Top Tips:
• Hotel Pilar is a boutique size accommodation with only 17 rooms. All rooms come with high ceilings and plenty of natural light, and some even boast views over the grand Museum of Fine Arts. There 6 types of room including the classic, the gold, the eco, the grande suite, the terrace suite 41, and the terrace suite 42. While the rooms may range in size, they all offer very comfortable beds, lots of personal touches like unique art pieces, and plenty of natural light and views over the leafy square outside. If you find yourself staying in a room facing the square, it is worth noting that it can get a bit noisy at night so it may be worthwhile to bring a pair of earplugs.
• If you or anyone you are travelling with has mobility issues, you’ll be glad to hear that Hotel Pilar is an accessible accommodation. On top of that, there is a lift for access to all common areas and the rooms. That being said, only some rooms are suited for guests in a wheelchair because they are equipped with wider doors and bigger bathrooms. If you require one of the accessible rooms for your stay, we recommend booking it well in advance of your stay to avoid disappointment. Moreover, if you need some guidance on what are the most accessible attractions in Antwerp, the hotel staff will be more than happy to help.
• If you’re travelling with kids, you’ll be happy to hear that the hotel welcomes families with kids of all ages. The hotel also offers baby cots to its guests upon request.
• Antwerp has been a bit of a well kept secret for awhile but this city offers a picturesque old town, great architecture, lots of art, the best shopping in Belgium and first class food. Amongst the best attractions to sink your teeth into include Antwerp’s central station (often considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the world), Diamond district (a hub of diamond trade), Meier Street (one of the most important shopping streets not only for Belgium), and Cathedral of Our Lady (the biggest gothic building in the Dutch -speaking world), Groenplaats (a buzzing square full of cafes and restaurants). Pro tip: get yourself a city card that offers free admission to the city’s major attractions, free use of the local public transport and discount on attractions, tours and shopping.
• On top of art and culture, Antwerp also has a thriving food scene just waiting to be explored. From Michelin-starred restaurants, seafood restaurants, bistros, beer houses and lively bars, you’re well-positioned to indulge in some waffles, Belgian chocolates, Moules Frites and Belgian Beers among other specialities.
