1. ION Adventure Hotel offer 45 perfectly appointed bedrooms. While they are all styled in the same luxuriously minimalistic way, many previous guests have recommended requesting and booking any of the rooms on the side of the hotel that does not face the nearby power plant; not only is it a little bit of eye-sore, it is also apparently lit up 24 hours a day.
2. It is a bit of an understatement to say that one of the major selling points for ION Adventure Hotel is its location. Not only can you enjoy spectacular views of lava fields and snow capped mountains, its location is also in close proximity to Iceland’s popular ‘Golden Circle’ 300 km route that offers tourists a chance to experience waterfalls, geysers and volcanoes.
3. If you ever find yourself staying at ION Adventure Hotel in the winter months, make sure to take full advantage of your stay by viewing the dance of the world-famous Northern Lights. Make sure to book your stay well in advance however, as the hotel is an extremely popular spot with Northern Lights chasers.
4. To make the most of your stay in this magnificent location, make sure to hire a rental car for the duration of your stay. The car will be useful not only to explore the ‘Golden Circle’ route but also to drive an hour to the city of Reykjavik if you get tired of being surrounded by lava fields (which is unlikely).
