In the neighbourhood of Kowloon, overlooking Victoria Harbour and the majestic skyline of Hong Kong is the equally impressive Kerry Hotel. As a part of the Shangri La family, guests of this 546-room hotel can expect nothing less than the utmost degree of luxury and comfort. Offering more space than most hotels in the heart of Hong Kong, Kerry Hotel presents an escape from the hectic atmosphere of the “Pearl of the Orient”.
Top Tips
1. While the neighbourhood of Kowloon isn’t terribly exciting in its own right, the closest MTR station is in Whampoa, which is just a 5 minute’s walk away. Not only will you have easy and efficient access to the city of Hong Kong, trains that depart nearby Hung Hom Station will also give you access to China.
2. This hotel is massive and bigger than most hotels in and around Hong Kong. That being said, the pièce de résistance of the hotel: the harbour view, is only available in sixty percent of the 546 rooms. If you’re keen on having a room with a view, we recommend calling the hotel in advance and requesting one of the harbour view rooms.
3. Many previous guests have recommended requesting and booking rooms and suites that are on higher floors, preferably high above the outdoor pool as many have stated that the massive windows are not reflective and are quite easy to look through from the outside. Previous guests have also stated to book rooms that are not on the same floor as the hotel’s restaurant as the noise level can get quite high.
4. It is an understatement to say that there is a lot to see and do in Hong Kong and because of this it can get quite overwhelming when deciding what to see and do. While questions and queries to the friendly staff will always be welcome, prior to your visit, head over to the hotel’s website and download the complimentary “Bay Area Guide”.
5. Many previous guests have stated that the culinary offering at Kerry Hotel is slightly disappointing and quite overpriced. We recommend foregoing the in-house food fare, hopping on the MTR and exploring all that Hong Kong has to offer; from the sweet Pineapple Bread, to the adventurous Chicken Feet.
