Top Tips
• Poli House offers 40 minimalist style rooms. The Classic rooms are compact in structure and designed to maximise the space and create a bright and open feel, some of them come with balconies that overlook the city. If you’re after a bit more space, there are the Junior Suites and the Circle Suites. The former features a luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower and standing tub and plenty of extra space for stretching out, while the latter offers panoramic views of the bustling Magen David Square, a separate seating area with a sofa and an extravagantly luxurious bathroom. Previous guests have mentioned that the rooms facing the main street tend to be on the less quiet side, so if you’re a light sleeper ask for a room to the back of the hotel (or pack a pair of earplugs).
• The Poli Hotel is centrally located and only steps from Tel Aviv’s main tourist areas. It is only a 5-minute walk to the bustling Carmel Market (the city’s largest open-air market) and about a 10-minute walk to the coast and promenade. Other than that, the hotel is just a 5-minute walk to picturesque Bialik Street (known for its gorgeous architecture), and only a 10-minute walk to Rothschild Boulevard (Tel Aviv’s main street, home to a myriad of restaurants and bars). Exploring these streets and attractions are made even easier (and affordable) when you make use of the hotel’s free bicycles.
• While you are only a few minutes away from Tel Aviv’s hub of nightlife, it might be worth it to just head up to Poli House’s rooftop. The buzzy rooftop bar and restaurant, Crudo, is a popular nightlife venue in and of itself and features a funky triangular-shaped bar, a wraparound terrace, and an outdoor lounge area around the pool. Head up to the roof on a Friday or Saturday evening for your chance to schmooze and rub shoulders with Tel Aviv’s coolest and trendiest kids.
• Defying all the odds of a tiny city, Tel Aviv has its fair share of awesome (and very different) beaches. If you are looking for sophisticated beach-side service check out TopSea beach. For crowded beaches with great vibes check out the Gordon and Bograshov beaches. And if you want to relax like a local check out some of the southern beaches. While the beaches of Tel Aviv may not be the best or cleanest in the world, a day by the sea will give you a great insight into local living and let you soak in the sun and the culture.
• Believe it or not, Tel Aviv is the ultimate hipster destination, and you can’t get more hipster than Poli House’s neighbourhood, Florentin. Saturated with trendy bars, restaurants, galleries and shops, Florentin is the place to see and be seen. Start your day with a brunch from Casbah (a rustic and industrial eatery offering a laid back brunch experience), follow that up with a visit to Florentin45 (a gallery featuring emerging Israeli talent), go vintage clothes shopping at Buy Kilo (a second hand clothes store selling clothes by weight), get in a cheeky afternoon drink at Mezcal (a hipster bar offering tequila tastings), and finish off your day with dinner at Dalida (a cool restaurant offering a creative take on local fare with an eclectic menu).
