Located in the centre of Siem Reap, in the vibrant Wat Bo area is the 50’s inspired Viroth’s Hotel. Housing 35 retro-designed rooms livened up with tropical foliage and local handicrafts, Viroth’s Hotel is your exotic paradise home away from home. The vision of Viroth’s Hotel embraces the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of south-east Asia and is reflected in the breezy, leafy design of the hotel, the spa, and the in-house restaurant.
Top Tips
1. All the rooms and suites of Viroth’s Hotel are equally decked out with beautifully thought out decor like black floor tiles, jewel-toned day-beds, and hand picked antiques. With all the rooms also being equally well-equipped, the only real consideration to make when picking a room is whether or not you want to people watch. If the answer is yes, then you’re going to want to book one of the pool-view rooms.
2. Because the hotel is retro-inspired, there are no lifts to access the higher floors. If you or anyone you are travelling with has mobility issues, make sure to let the hotel know in advance so that they can put you in one of the ground floor guest rooms that are fully accessible.
3. Viroth’s offers its guests a one-stop-shop luxury experience with its in-house restaurant, bar, and spa. Indulge in international-inspired fare like comforting hummus, cooling gazpacho or a scrumptious niçoise at the restaurant, sip on classic mixes as well as exotic cocktails at the bar, or experience total indulgence with the spa’s four-hands body massage. With all of this on offer, we wouldn’t blame you for never leaving Viroth’s.
4. Foreign visitors to Cambodia require a local driver’s license. If you’re only staying for a short stint, it makes sense not to bother going through the process of getting a local license. Instead, hire a chauffeur-driven car or a tuk tuk to explore Siem Reap.
5. Viroth’s Hotel is located in East Bank, a sleepy up-and-coming area of Siem Reap. Just across the bridge from the Old Market, this area has a tonne of things to see and places to explore. For the culture-vulture, there are beautiful pagodas in the area to explore; namely Wat Bo and Wat Damnak. For the shopaholic, there’s of course the Old Market to explore as well as the nearby Angkor Night Market, a great place for a good bargain.
