If you’d love to experience the wildlife and wilderness of Greater Kruger National Park while living in the the lap of luxury then Tanda Tula Safari Camp is the place for you. Located at the very centre of Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, this ‘glamping’ site consists of 12 secluded luxury tents designed to enhance your safari experience. Tanda Tula Safari Camp encourages its visitors to not only explore nature but connect with it as well.
Top Tips
1. While all the tents are luxurious, well appointed and have similar views, the tents labelled with lower numbers are closer to the reception and dining area. Depending on the level of privacy you’d prefer as well as what proximity to the common facilities you would like, definitely request the specific tent that suits your needs when making your booking.
2. Because of their level of luxury and superb safari services, Tanda Tula is very popular at any time of the year and is often booked out. With that in mind, make sure to make your booking well in advance of your travel date to avoid disappointment (especially if you have your heart set on a particular tent).
3. While Tanda Tula is a luxury accommodation, you have to keep in mind that it is still technically camping. So if you’re looking for facilities like in-room WiFi and 24 hour room service, or to be completely shut out from bugs and wilderness noises, then perhaps consider a different hotel. At Tanda Tula, while there are great facilities like WiFi in the common areas and amazing food in the dining space, you will experience wildlife in close proximity (i.e. fall asleep and wake up to a symphony of wild noises).
4. The main attraction that has people flocking to Tanda Tula is of course, their safari services. The camp runs two daily game drives in vehicles accommodating a maximum of 6 guests to ensure a personal and exclusive experience of a lifetime. These drives are led by professional guides and trackers to ensure that during your stay you will spot a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, kudu and other rare wild dogs.
5. Tanda Tula also offers other safari experiences that are just as interesting and unforgettable. If you want a more up close look at the surrounding wildlife, the camp offers a daily guided safari walk that lasts between 1 to 2 hours where your guide will lead you as you explore the African wilderness on foot and learn more about the smaller creatures and flora of the region.
