The absolutely beautiful Emmerich Hotel is located in the charming historical and ancient town of Görlitz, in a 600 year old medieval mayor’s house. It provides 15 multi-sized rooms and suites and offers views of the old town. The house retains its original style and decorations but blends in modern elements. Recently renovated to bring the building back to its historic grandeur, with some contemporary aspects for character and style. To create individual charm, each room is characterised by warm oak beams, beautiful natural stone, modern furnishings and a comfortable interior. Trips can be made across the Polish border and guests can visit many historical buildings and landmarks including St Jacob’s Cathedral and beautifully restored houses. Berzdorfer See Lake is just a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Top Tips

• The hotel can provide an extra bed or child’s cot/crib upon request and needs to be confirmed by the management.

• There are no charges for the child’s cot/crib and when using existing beds only one child under 12 years can stay free of charge.

• EUR 25 are charged for the adults or children over 12 years per person per night in an extra bed.

• 14.50 Euros are charged per person to start your day with a delicious breakfast, accompanied by a good cup of tea and coffee from the samovar and a direct view to the Untermarkt. It is a bit pricey for the area of Gorlitz but being in the centre of the town, you can explore a range of options.

• A lockable parking place is provided for 5 Euros a day by the hotel but there are plenty of parking possibilities available in the old town area. The closest tram stop is a 6-minute walk from the hotel.

• There is no kettle, fridge or minibar in the room. Cold drinks are available from a fridge near reception-including the excellent local beer.

• The modern bathrooms in Emmerich Hotel is concern for some. Though they are large but they have no doors for washrooms. Now for a couple, it might be okay but not suitable if you have children or friends travelling together.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
