5 Star

On the south-western edge of the sprawling Tiergarten (Berlin’s largest park) is arguably one of the city’s most reasonably priced 5 star hotels, Das Stue. A perfect mix of sophistication, a great location and Michelin-starred cuisine, Das Stue offers its guests an unmatched luxury at an unbeatable price. Where history meets contemporary, Das Stue is housed in a building that was once home to the Royal Danish Embassy, and because of this contains both governmental grandeur along with a funky mix of colourful sofas and animal sculptures. Smack bam in the beating heart of Berlin, Das Stue is the perfect home base for anyone looking to explore.

Top Tips

• All of Das Stue’s 78 guest rooms are located in both the historic building and a newer annex. That being said, all rooms equally feature high-end furnishings in rich fabrics, lofty ceilings, dark wood floors, and amenities like free Wi-Fi, premium TV channels, and HD Apple entertainment systems. We recommend going for one of the Embassy rooms that come with a balcony. Other rooms either have views of the courtyard, Berlin Zoo or the Tiergarten, so the choice is up to you. If money is no object, the Penthouse Suite sitting on the top floor, overlooking the courtyard and the zoo is vast and drop-dead gorgeous. It is worth noting that a two-night minimum stay is applicable to all rooms.

• If you or anyone you are travelling with has mobility issues, you’ll be happy to hear that five rooms at Das Stue are suitable for wheelchairs (including full bathroom access). A further three are suitable for people with other disabilities - without necessarily being able to get a wheelchair into the bathroom. If you require any of these rooms, make sure to let the hotel know well in advance of your stay, they will be more than happy to accomodate your needs.

• With the Berlin Zoo right at the hotel’s doorstep, it is no surprise that kids would love to stay here (on top of the fact that the outdoor dining terrace is adjacent to the Zoo’s Ostrich enclosure). If you are travelling with young kids, we recommend booking either one of the Juniors suites and standard suites as they can accomodate free cots and extra beds at €52.50 a night. Mums and Dads will be happy to hear that Das Stue also offers babysitting services that cost €25 an hour for up to two kids, or €30 an hour for three or more kids.

• If you’re looking for activities to partake in during your stay, feel free to ask the concierge about borrowing bikes, getting tickets to the zoo, arranging a picnic in the park, touring the city on motorbikes, or having a fitness class or yoga session in the Tiergarten. The hotel is an easy reach to some of the city’s greatest landmarks, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Potsdamer Platz and the Neue Nationalgalerie. If you’re looking to shop, head to Kurfürstendamm Boulevard.

• If you’re looking to unwind after a long day of exploring Berlin and beyond, look no further than the hotel’s in-house Susanne Kaufmann™ Boutique Spa. Here, contemporary treatments of nurturing and pampering are combined with the ancient knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to create a truly unforgettable experience.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
