Top Tips
1. 137 Pillars House has 30 beautifully decorated suites that are all equipped with private balconies, four-poster or super-king beds, indoor and outdoor showers, his and hers basins and fab freestanding, roll-top baths. It is because of this that you are absolutely spoiled for choice. That being said, if you’re looking for more privacy during your stay, we recommend booking the upstairs rooms. If mobility is an issue for you, the ground floor rooms would be perfect.
2. If you’re looking for royal-worthy luxury, we recommend splashing some cash and booking one of the two ground-floor Louis Leonowens Pool Suites. As the name suggests, these rooms offer your very own private plunge pool.
3. Want to inspire some insta-envy? Head over to 137 Pillars House’s 25x5.5 metre pool. Not only will you enjoy the seclusion of the slimline pool, the massive vertical plant wall will absolutely take your breath away. Bonus tip: make your swim even more enjoyable with complimentary homemade sorbet, cool mineral water, and cold towels happily provided by the attentive staff.
4. During your stay, explore the hotel’s surrounding neighbourhood, Wat Gate; Chiang Mai’s most historical and hipster district. In this up and coming district, you’ll be surrounded by museums and spas as well as hip restaurants and bars. The best way to explore Wat Gate is by bicycle, so it’s definitely worth asking the hotel staff about bicycle rental services.
5. While it may be tempting to remain in the luxurious lap of 137 Pillars House, it’s definitely worth exploring Chiang Mai beyond the confines of Wat Gate. If you’re keen on shopping, hire a car from the hotel and head either towards Ton Lamyai fruit and flower market or to Chiang Mai’s famous Night Market. If you’re looking for a spot of golf, tee off at the scenic Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Course.
