Overlooking the waters of Lake Wakatipu on the shores of historic Queenstown, New Zealand, is the welcoming and luxurious haven, Eichardt’s Private Hotel. Born as a result of the rich vein of gold from Queenstown’s gold rush era, Eichardt’s Private Hotel started its life patronized by miners, prospectors, opportunists and downright optimists from around the globe. Nowadays, the contemporary and exclusive Eichardt’s Private Hotel welcomes guests with it’s stunning super-chic interiors, providing an unforgettable, no-holds barred luxe experience.

Top Tips

• Eichardt’s Private Hotel has 10 suites, including four Lakefront Apartment Suites and the three-bed Eichardt's Residence separate from the main hotel. Of the five rooms in the main lodge, previous guests have recommended booking one of the three Lake View Suites as they have the most amazing views of Lake Wakatipu. For more privacy and space, previous guests have recommended one of the Lakefront Apartment Suites which are a short stroll from the main building. For even more privacy, treat yourself to the standalone Eichardt’s Residence which has its own kitchen, dining room, cinema space and balconies.

• If you’re travelling with children, you’ll be glad to know that Eichardt’s Private Hotel is more than happy to welcome them, and will do everything they can to ensure their comfort and happiness. When it comes to accommodation, there are interconnecting rooms available for families. There is no charge for cots but an additional single king is NZ $260 per night (£137). When it comes to food, parents of fussy eaters will be happy to hear that there are children’s menus in both on-site restaurants.

• If you or anyone you’re travelling with has mobility issues, you’ll be glad to know that Eichardt’s Private Hotel are more than happy to assist you with your needs. Not only is there a two-bedroomed apartment that has an adapted bathroom as well as lift access throughout the hotel, the hotel’s staff will go above and beyond to provide informed advice and help on hand to navigate Queenstown’s enormous leisure-activity portfolio suited for you.

• During your stay at Eichardt’s Private Hotel, you can do more than just gaze upon the beautiful Lake Wakatipu, you can cruise it! Thanks to companies like Spirit of Wakatipu, you can cruise into untouched wilderness to discover Lake Wakatipu’s hidden gem – Mt Nicholas. During the cruise you can sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery of The Remarkables mountain range and up the lake towards Glenorchy township. Pro tip: for those instagram enthusiasts out there, don’t forget to take panoramic photos from the boat’s open-top viewing deck.

• It’s an understatement to say that New Zealand is known for its gorgeous environment and plethora of exciting outdoor activities. We’re happy to report that there is no shortage of either in Queenstown thanks to Bob’s Peak. Lucky for you, the gondola base station to Bob’s Peak, overlooking the town and lake, is only seven minutes’ walk away from the hotel. Once at Bob’s Peak there are so many activities, suited for all ages available to you. To mention a few, there is the Skyline Luge (a gravity fuelled ride where you sit in a purpose built Luge cart and ride down the tracks at your own pace), bungee jumping, stargazing tours, walking and biking tours, and a Maori culture experience with nightly Kiwi Haka performances.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
