Hotel Mathis offers 23 equipped cosy bedrooms and suites, to satisfy the travellers with discreet luxury and Baroque-style decor. The lobby with its gold leaf ceilings makes it precious and intimate. The leopard pattern catches the eyes and unrolls on the steps of a narrow staircase that leads to the bedrooms. The suites have a view over the Parisian facades, making it ideal to share the best moments at the heart of the city of lights. Depending on the room, the black or clear wooden floor warms the atmosphere. The wallpapers with bird and palm motifs balance with even textured cream to silver grey drapes. Set on a quiet street, just off the Champs-Élysées, making it a perfect base to explore this vibrant city.

Top Tips:

• Ask the hotel management to place you in a quieter part of the hotel. Don’t book any of the rooms above the night club. Pro-Tip: Room 42 is spacious, as per Paris standards and has a charming balcony.

• The external noise from bars and restaurants in street below can be a problem. It is better to keep windows shut and use AC.

• There is no parking on-site but is possible at a location nearby by paying up to EUR 35 per night. No reservation is needed for it.

• The breakfast is poor for the money. There are a lot of restaurants and bars nearby for a better value.

• There is no storage for clothes in drawers; only limited room in a closet to accommodate the clothes you might hang up.  This would be "OK" for a one-night stay, but no longer.

• The bar is advertised on their official website and booking.com but the bar has actually been closed permanently.

• The hotel elevator is small only accommodating a maximum of 2 persons at a time. Pro-Tip: If you have more than one piece of luggage, ask the staff to help you.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
