‍If you’re looking for history married with stylish luxury, then The Liberty Hotel in Boston was made for you. Starting off its life as the Charles Street Jail in 1851, it was given a $150 million makeover and transformed into the luxurious metropolitan playground it is today. Its 90-foot rotunda lobby, complete with preserved cells, is always lively and filled with locals.

Top tips

• If you want to stay in one of the 18 rooms that are in the original jail, be prepared for a lot of noise from the energetic in-house nightlife. If you’d rather not be kept awake by the sounds of Bostonians socialising their nights away, make sure to request a room in the new tower instead. Bonus tip: the higher up the room, the quieter it’ll get.

• If you find yourself anywhere near The Liberty in the summer months on a Wednesday afternoon, head to the outdoor bar called The Yard to partake in Yappier Hour. Imagine cocktails and dogtails. This weekly summer event attracts dog owners and their lovely pooches to soak up the atmosphere and the summer sun!

• The Liberty is in prime location at the foot of Beacon Hill which is essentially the heart of the city. It’s only moments away from the Museum of Science, Kendall Square, shops at Faneuil Hall and the historic harbour area.

• Even with Boston’s nightlife at your front door, you might not have to leave the hotel to have a good time. With a variety of cheekily named in-house drinking and dining options (think Alibi and Clink), you’ll be absolutely spoiled for choice. That being said, be ready for long queues as The Liberty is a hot spot for locals.

• If you need to get anywhere around Boston, The Liberty offers a local car service free of charge!

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
