Within an old iron warehouse from the 19th century, smack bam in the middle of Oporto’s UNESCO listed historic centre lies the luxurious guest house, Armazém. Housing only 9 bedrooms and 3 apartments, this hotel embodies everything it means to be an exclusive accommodation. Being in the centre of it all, you’re just a few minutes walk to Clérigos Tower, the Ribeira district, Oporto’s Cathedral and the iconic Luis I Bridge.

Top Tips

1. If you would prefer a quieter stay make sure to ask for a room that doesn’t face the square as these rooms can get quite noisy.

2. If you request a room that has a balcony when you’re making a booking, keep in mind that the balconies are just small French balconies that aren’t big enough to lounge on. If space is what you’re after, make sure to splurge a little and book one of the penthouse rooms; not only will you get more room, you’ll also be greeted with a beautiful view of the city.

3. The hotel provides many experiences for their guests to enjoy like yoga lessons, church tours, and even picnics in the city (yes, they’ll even prepare the picnic basket for you!). But if you’d prefer to do some exploring on your own, the neighbourhood is filled to the brim with great bars, cafes and restaurants.

4. One would not go to Porto without tasting the sweet beverage made famous by this amazing city. Try out a variety of original barrel-and-bottle-aged Port wine at one of many riverfront cellars for a taste of this regional favourite.

5. If you’re hoping for some romance during your stay at the Armazém, make sure to head up to the beautiful rooftop for amazing views of the old roofs of Porto and the Cathedral.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
