Top Tips
1. With 42 rooms at the Memmo Alfama, you’re really spoilt for choice! When booking a room, it’s really all about what you want and how much you’re comfortable with spending. If money's no object, definitely splurge for the Terrace room and request for one with your very own balcony. If you’d prefer to save a little on your budget, go for the Alfama rooms as they are cheapest ones and they offer amazing views of Alfama and the Tagus river.
2. Be aware that quite a few of the rooms do not really have a view of Alfama or the river so if this is a major concern and you really want a view, make sure to inform the hotel well in advance so that you get a room that you are happy with.
3. With Alfama’s laneways and maze-like streets, it can be quite the treasure hunt trying to locate the hotel. Make sure to get specific directions from either the staff or the hotel’s website before your visit. If getting lost is your forte, definitely consider requesting a shuttle service to the hotel; it may cost you a little extra money but it will save you a whole lot of time.
4. Previous guests have suggested not to bring a car as the streets are quite difficult to navigate and the parking facilities are not on site. Don’t despair however, as the Memmo Alfama is just a few minutes away from public transport and many major attractions.
5. When you first arrive at the Memmo Alfama, make sure to make full use of their free guided walking tours to start to get to know the narrow streets of the neighbourhood. Here the friendly staff will give you advice and recommendations of what to do, see, and even, what to eat!
