Top Tips
• Casa Lecanda Boutique Hotel is a place created for romantics. Whether it’s a wedding or a honeymoon, Casa Lecanda exudes a level of romance almost unmatched by any other hotels in the area. Because the hotel is aimed more towards romance seekers, it comes as no surprise that they do not allow children under the age of 12 to stay in the property. So if you’re a family travelling with young kids, you’re going to have to find another hotel. It is also worth noting that because the hotel is housed within a restored historical building, none of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.
• With only 7 rooms in Casa Lecanda you really feel the exclusivity of the property. That being said, choosing a room is all down to what view you want, how much space you want, and how much natural light you want. Guests choose between three types of rooms; the Patio room, the Balcony room, and the Garden suite. The Patio rooms open straight onto the hotel’s (small, somewhat decorative) pool, the Balcony rooms come with a balcony to soak up the Yucatán sun, and finally, the Garden suite opens out to the hotel’s garden and comes with its own seating area. Pro tip: previous guests have mentioned that the "Adrian" room has small windows, so make sure to request not to be put in that room.
• If you’re hoping to have lunch or dinner at Casa Lecanda, make sure to request it from the hotel staff 24 hours in advance so the kitchen can prepare a bespoke dining experience just for you. However, if you’re not one for planning meals that far ahead, there are plenty of restaurants in the area. If you are however, looking for a liquid lunch, you’re in luck! The hotel’s in-house Wine and Tequila bar offers a fine selection of International & Mexican wines along with an ample selection of Tequilas from the finest distilleries.
• If you ever get tired of living in the lap of Yucatán luxury and want to see another (more historic) side of Mérida, there are Mayan sites nearby(ish) that you can explore. Chichen Itza, a very popular Mayan ruin, is only a 90-minute drive from the hotel. And if you’re looking for a less touristy (and therefore, less crowded) ruin, head to Uxmal which is only a 70-minute drive from Casa Lecanda. Pro tip: if you didn’t come with a car, feel free to ask the hotel staff to organise a car to take you on a Mayan ruin tour for the day.
• Previous guests have mentioned that the staff of Casa Lecanda are super friendly and incredibly helpful. Besides arranging a myriad of tours on your behalf, they can also advise on activities in Mérida or arrange a fun Mexican cooking class with hotel chef Christian Bravo. Other on-site activities that can be arranged include in-room massage and private yoga classes.
