Because all the rooms are equally well-appointed and as luxe as you’d expect, picking a room is just a matter of your budget and the level of privacy you’d prefer. For those of you looking to be around more mature surroundings, previous guests have recommended booking one of the Adult-only Ocean Suites that boast king-size beds, freestanding baths and terraces. Families would be most comfortable in the Garden Pool Villas that are close to the beach; their high stone walls make them very private, particularly those with separate dining and lounge areas. For those of you with cash to splash, the Master Suite or the fifth-floor Penthouse comes highly recommended.

• As much as the romantic atmosphere of NIZUC might suggest that it isn’t family, children of all ages are more than welcome. Going above and beyond to accommodate little one’s, the hotel runs the Winik's kids' club for children aged 4 to 12 (children below must be accompanied by an adult). There's also a babysitting service, family-friendly pool plus extras like miniature slippers and robes in-room to make your little ones feel right at home.

• If you or anyone you are travelling with has mobility issues, you’ll be happy to hear that NIZUC is well equipped to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Not only are there lifts to rooms and ramp access available throughout the property, getting around the resort is a breeze thanks to the many golf buggies that continuous help guests get from one end of the resort to the other. Pro tip: you can usually just stop a golf buggie as it passes, but if you need one at any specific time, feel free to call the reception to arrange for one to pick you up.

• Being a hotel of such high calibre, it’s no surprise that almost everything comes at a steep price; this unfortunately includes food and alcohol. So, if you’re watching you’re budget, previous guests have recommended venturing into town and stocking up on snacks, alcohol and water to save yourself some pesos.
