If you're in the mood for an anti-resort holiday, then Encuentro Guadalupe in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe is just what you've been waiting for. Located amidst an ecological reserve, this anti-resort accommodation boasts impressive eco credentials with its sustainable eco-lofts that were built off-site and elevated into place as to not disturb the natural surroundings. While the no cars or children policy may make you feel a million miles away, the best of Mexico’s wine country is a lot closer than you think.

Top Tips

1. While the anti-resort is on the higher end for accommodations in the area, many previous guests have said that waking up to the views of Guadalupe from the eco-lodge are well worth the price point. With that being said, keep in mind that the eco-lodges are designed with ultimate low-impact minimalism in mind and may not have the plushness of other hotels at the same price point.

2. If mobility is an issue for you or anyone you are travelling with, definitely let the hotel know when you are booking your stay as they will be more than happy to accommodate your needs. If distance to common areas is what you’re most concerned about, definitely make sure to call well in advance of your trip to request for an eco-lodge that is closer to the pool and reception area.

3. Encuentro Guadalupe is located right in the middle of Mexico’s very own wine country. Because of this, you are surrounded by a whopping 45 renowned vineyards and wineries like L.A. Cetto, Monte Xanic, and Adobe Guadalupe, just to name a few. Many of these wineries are accompanied by Michelin star restaurants so definitely use your visit as an opportunity to explore the valley and all it has to offer.

4. Bring good walking shoes when you visit Encuentro Guadalupe as this anti-resort has a strict no car policy in the eco-lodge guest area and there are plenty of trails around for you to explore on foot. You do, however, have the option to contact the reception (via walkie talkie) if you’d like them to take you to the main communal areas via the resort’s own buggies.

5. While the area is absolutely filled to the brim with fancy wineries and Michelin star restaurants, you may want to try out some down-to-earth local fare during your stay as well. Just a 40 minute drive away is La Guerrerense, a humble street cart known best for it’s amazing Mexican street food, especially their mind-blowing tostadas and ceviche.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
