Set on a secluded private island off the west coast of Malaysia, surrounded by wild rainforests and gorgeous sandy beaches is the beautifully quiet Pangkor Laut Resort. With privacy being the utmost importance, all 143 rooms and villas are sufficiently spaced apart to guarantee intimacy for their guests. Being a favourite of the late great Pavarotti, guests can expect nothing less than the highest form of luxury and relaxation.

Top Tips

1. Each of the 143 rooms and villas of Pangkor Laut Resort are very well appointed and decorated in a traditional Malay style complete with contemporary facilities. Previous guests have not had anything bad to say about the rooms and recommend booking any of them, so picking a room or suite is completely up to what level of luxury you’d like to indulge in. You can enjoy being on the ocean in one of the Sea Villas or you could go all out and splurge on the Pavarotti suite; your indulgence is entirely in your hands.

2. The island is not only home to the resort but also to a myriad of wildlife. One animal that always seems to cross paths with guests are the long-tail macaques. Be wary if you come across one as they have been known to snatch things away from guests. As an extra precaution make sure to lock your villa doors when you leave as these macaques also have a tendency to “break” into your room. Bonus tip: do not feed the macaques, it is not a good idea.

3. Being a private island, there are no other resorts or restaurants around. That being said, you’ll be spoilt for choice at any of the hotel’s restaurants including Jamu Bar, Feast Village, The Straits, Uncle Lim’s Kitchen, Fisherman’s Cove, Chapmans Bar, and the Royal Bay Beach Club. The cuisines on offer range from local to international.

4. During your stay at Pangkor Laut Resort, take full advantage of the tropical surroundings by taking in a nature trek through the forest accompanied by an experienced local guide. On the jungle trek you will learn about the island’s natural habitat and ecology in an entertaining and educational way. Whether you are a novice explorer or a warrior Amazonians, there are 2 trails suited for either. This nature trek allows guests to truly appreciate the native wilderness of the island.

5. After a long day of jungle trekking and beach bumming, make sure to rid yourself of aches and pains at the hotel’s Spa Village. Offering an extensive range of treatments inspired by the health practices from China, Japan, India, Thailand, Bali and Malaysia, the Spa Village is sure to have a treatment to tickle your fancy.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
