Housed in an elegantly converted 19th-century home, on an unassuming street in the heart of Granada, is the independent stay gem of an apartment hotel known as Palacio Cabrera-Lillo. Marrying minimalist and up-to-date apartments with splashes of original architecture and Granada sparkle, this apartment hotel will make any guest feel like a true local.

Top tips

1. All the apartments of Palacia Cabrera-Lillo are equally well appointed, gleaming, modern and delightfully spacious. There is one studio style apartment, seven one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments, so picking an apartment for your stay will basically boil down to how many travel buddies are with you.

2. Palacio Cabrera-Lillo is an independent stay style hotel, this means that  while the staff will be on-hand for any questions or queries, guests will enjoy a stay with minimal interaction. This is a benefit for the active independent traveller, but for the traveller looking to be waited on hand and foot, it may come as a disappointment. So if you’re looking for a hotel with all the bells and whistles, you might want to consider booking a room somewhere else.

3. Palacio Cabrera-Lillo is truly in the heart of Granada so you’re never going to need a car to get around. Granada’s major shopping streets right on the doorstep and everything else is in walking distance; it’ a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral and a 15 minute walk to the Albayzín’s tangle of enchanting streets. If you do however, want to explore further, Bus C3 will take you from the bus stop 10 minutes away, all the way to Alhambra. If walking or public transport isn’t your thing, however, you can hire a car and park it next door for around 19 euros a day; be warned though, parking doesn’t come easy in Granada.

4. If you’re looking to save some cash on food, definitely take advantage of the kitchen within the apartments of Palacio Cabrera-Lillo. We recommend either exploring the neighbourhood cafes, tapas bars and restaurants during the day and cooking an at-home dinner, or making breakfast in the apartment and indulging in the local food fare for the rest of the day.

5. The best way to immerse yourself in Granada is on foot, so make sure to google “Free Granada Walking Tour” before your stay and book a guided walk with friendly, English speaking guides. Most of the tours last around 2 hours, are absolutely free of charge and will cover the best and most famous sites of Granada.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
