Within the lively beating heart of Madrid, stands the stylishly homey Principal Madrid Hotel. With 76 lush comfortable rooms and a calm colour scheme, this hotel is very popular amongst members of the media and fashionista crowd. Being in the centre of the city, Principal Madrid is the perfect home base for anyone looking to take on Madrid by foot. So if you’re looking to be at walking distance to many of Madrid’s most famous landmarks and to enjoy panoramic views of the city’s main artery, Gran Via, then you can do no better than book yourself a room at The Principal Madrid Hotel.

Top Tips

1. While all the rooms at The Principal Madrid are the perfect blend of feminine lushness and masculine edge with their monochromatic palette and deluxe plush beds, it is the room with the best sweeping city view that you should aim to book, and that is Deluxe Room 601. If you are however, looking to stay for a longer period of time then you should definitely book one of the larger suites on the fifth floor.

2. Most of the rooms have balconies that overlook the hectic streets of Madrid below, with that in mind, make sure to request a room on a higher floor if you’re looking to enjoy a quieter stay. To enjoy extra calm and quiet, ask for one of the rooms that don’t face the Gran Via; previous guests have stated that these rooms are much quieter.

3. While the rooftop terrace of The Principal Madrid is the perfect place to enjoy the spanish sun, if you find the summer heat just a little too unbearable, head to the sixth floor and there you’ll find a cool leafy oasis in the hotel’s conservatory.

4. While The Principal Madrid hotel is the epitome of exclusive luxury, it has to be noted that the rooftop pool is unfortunately only ornamental. So if you were hoping to lounge in the pool during your stay, you should probably book a room in a different hotel.

5. If you’re lucky enough to stay at The Principal Madrid, then it is your duty to take full advantage and explore the boulevard that never sleeps, Gran Via. Whether you’re taking in a Broadway musical, admiring the beautiful architecture, or splashing some cash in the upscale shops, Madrid’s main artery will have you captivated all day.

With close to 10 years in the travel industry, it's safe to say that I'm a travel addict.

Since my first flight at 8 months of age, I've travelled extensively through Europe, Asia, the South Pacific and part of North America. Some of the highlights were sleeping under the stars in the Wahiba Sands in Oman, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, walking on the Great Wall of China, climbing the Eiffel Tower, cruising from St Petersburg to Moscow, eating streetfood in Penang, exploring the Rocky Mountains in Canada and hanging loose in Hawaii.

I currently spend all my time putting together epic life-changing mastermind retreats or meticulously planning Luxury Tailor-made holidays around the world.
